Steve Murphy has been dubbed the “pit bull” of the New Mexico Criminal Defense Bar. Steve has more than 29 years of experience and has tried over 2,000 criminal cases throughout New Mexico.

Steve’s former and current clients include District Court Judges, State Magistrate Judges, probation officers, police officers, and prosecutors. “The greatest compliment I receive is when a police officer or prosecutor is accused of a crime and they ask me to represent them.”

Steve grew up in a single wide trailer in Farmington off of Auburn Street. At the age of 16, he broke in as a floor hand on a rig owned by Arapahoe Drilling. From 1972 to 1975 Steve was in the U.S. Army assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.

After returning home from his military service, Steve joined Local Unions 16 and 627 and helped build the APS and PNM power plants. With the completion of the power plants, he returned to his roots in the oilfield. Steve worked as a compressor operator for Burlington Resources. Working in the “patch” by day and going to college at night. In 1988 Steve began his lifelong dream of protecting the rights of the working man.

In 1991 Steve graduated from the University of New Mexico Law School and ranked 22nd in his class. His law career began as a Prosecutor with the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque.

With over 29 years experience, Steve now limits his practice to Criminal Defense and serious Personal Injury cases.




Mr. Tyson K. Gobble has been licensed to practice law in the state of New Mexico since 2011.  Tyson K. Gobble is a native New Mexican and was born and raised in the Four Corners area.  Mr. Gobble’s areas of practice are Family Law (all matters involving divorces, child custody, and child support), Criminal Defense, and Personal Injury.  Mr. Gobble’s family law practice focuses specifically in the areas of dissolution of marriage, child custody, child support, orders of protection, restraining orders, kinship guardianships, stepparent adoptions, spousal support/alimony, and Qualified Domestic Relation Orders (QDRO).  Mr. Gobble is also a member of the Honor’s Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the American Bar Association, the New Mexico Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, and the San Juan Country Club.  Mr. Gobble has recently sworn in as a member of the bar for the State of Texas.

Shellie A. Patscheck is an aggressive and smart trial attorney.  She is a former Senior Trial Attorney with the San Juan County District Attorney’s Office.  During her time at the D.A.’s office, she handled a range of felony cases, up to and including first degree murder cases.  Shellie was named “Outstanding Prosecutor of the Year” for the 11th Judicial District in 2013.  She was named “Domestic Violence Prosecutor of the Year” for the State of New Mexico in 2014.

After leaving the D.A.’s office in 2015, the District Attorney requested Shellie be appointed as a special prosecutor to try a three-week long First Degree Murder trial.  

Shellie was born and raised in San Juan County.  She graduated from Piedra Vista High School, San Juan College, and Fort Lewis College.  She attended law school at the University of New Mexico, where she graduated cum laude in 2011.

Shellie joined the Titus & Murphy Law Firm in 2016.  She focuses her practice on criminal defense, personal injury, worker’s compensation, and general civil litigation.   

Shellie vigorously fights to protect the rights and causes of all her clients.  She has tried over 30 jury trials in her career and loves being in the courtroom.  She has argued in front of the New Mexico Supreme Court and has filed appellate briefs in both the New Mexico Court of Appeals and the New Mexico Supreme Court.  Shellie has earned a reputation for providing aggressive and smart legal representation.
